They supply operators and service providers with end-to-end solutions in mobile and broadband Internet. They also supply solutions for all existing mobile systems, including network infrastructure, access equipment and terminals, application enablers and global services to support both business and private communications.

The critical issue

Ericsson's challenge is to implement an effective OSS service assurance solution.

The solution

The NFM network surveillance domain easily detects, manages and corrects network faults across networks, independently from the brand or technology of the networks. Network surveillance is based on OpenMaster for Telecom, and consists of the following components:

  • Network NFM, which presents and analyses network alarms, including those from major transmission and signaling equipment, as well as load conditions reported by switching systems
  • Trouble Manager, which supports the problem resolution process
  • Performance Management, which stores, analyses and presents historical data for service planning and maintenance plannin
  • Facility Management, which is a centralized data repository for network inventory assets

The solution is being used by service providers such as StarHub (Singapore), Embratel (Brazil), Telecom Italia (Italy), Telia (Sweden), Islandssimi (Iceland), NOC London, Telefonica (Spain), Callino (Germany) and Deutsche Telecom (Germany).
