SafeKit Mixed Farm/Mirror architecture

Network load balancing, file replication, and failover

You can mix farm and mirror architectures on the same cluster of servers. Typically, you would do this to provide network load balancing for a front-end web server (with a farm module) and file replication for its back-end database (with a mirror module), the two modules running on the same cluster of servers.

Deploying this type of mixed multi-tier application architecture is very simple: you just install two application modules, such as apache_farm.safe (farm architecture with load balancing and recovery) and mysql.safe (mirror architecture with file replication and recovery) on the same application servers.

As a result, load balancing, file replication, and failover are managed coherently on the same servers. Specific to SafeKit, this mixed architecture is unique on the market. It requires the SafeKit multi-module feature.
