OpenMaster SLA Toolkits for Service Level Agreements
Customizing reports
OpenMaster SLA toolkits provide the means to build reporting systems personalized to specific needs:
- Use Report Editor to report on resources not covered by the standard expertise packages
- Use Alarm Correlation to report on the availability of collections of different resources
Report Editor
Report Editor is a toolkit that allows you to create your own statistical report packages to complement the standard expertise packages. It contains:
- Report Configurator, which allows you to specify what the package measures, by defining data collections, in terms of classes of indicators (for example on ATM, Cisco routers, Oracle databases,...)
- Report Designer, which enables you to create the user graphical interface to the new package
- Report Explorer allows you to perform multi-dimensional analysis
Alarm correlation
You use the alarm correlation toolkit to define models of services, typically those that drive specific business processes.
In this context, "service" means the set of functions needed to achieve a task. An "e-commerce service" for example, might involve:
- Hardware: servers, bridges, switches, firewalls,...
- Software: databases, web and certificate servers, order processing applications
- Resources: CPU time, memory, disk space, network bandwidth
By defining a service with alarm correlation you instruct OpenMaster SLA to filter the alarms concerning the components providing the service and build Quality of Service (QoS) reports specific to that business process. They give you, and the line-of-business managers, a pertinent vision of the complete set of IT functions that underpin the business process. As a result, you can:
- Monitor the availability of a particular service
- Reduce the number of alarms
- Improve the quality of information you provide to your internal or external clie
