Nissan gives account of the success of its pan-European enterprise SSO deployment at the Bull International Seminar 2007 in Barcelona.

At the Bull international VIP seminar ‘Through the Open door, a new path to business growth and innovation’ held in Barcelona on May 11, 2007, Nissan Europe described how it successfully deployed enterprise SSO in all its European branches. The Manager European Infrastructure and Operations Nissan Europe, explained to 130 CIOs and decision-makers from all parts of the world, how Nissan deployed SSO for more than 7000 users in less than 16 months - from conception to implementation.

Nissan Europe produces and sells more than 500,000 vehicles a year and operates in 34 countries, with 12,500 employees and 3,200 dealers. With a view to protecting its sensitive information by implementing on each site a single security policy that is consistent with the physical access infrastructure, Nissan wanted to use a global “Nissan ID badge” to improve the security of access to its ever-increasing applications, at the enterprise level. To implement and make this solution visible, Nissan chose Evidian E-SSO solution with two-factor authentication.

It chose Evidian E-SSO solution because it is non-intrusive and easy to integrate and deploy with Smart Card and PKI technologies. The ability of Evidian’s SSO to take full advantage of the Microsoft Active Directory model deployed across all Nissan regions and its advanced features, geared toward full Identity and credential lifecycle management, were also key elements in Nissan’s choice.

At the Barcelona seminar, The Manager European Infrastructure and Operations Nissan Europe underlined the very positive results obtained with Evidian’s solution. With Nissan ID badge, security has improved and now dramatically reduces the risk of theft of intellectual property. The number of password-problem-related Helpdesk calls has fallen by more than 40%. Over 100 mainframe, client-server and web-based applications are now SSO enabled, without modifying a single line of code or the development methodology. Moreover, since SSO is user friendly, users are more eager to use their ID Badge. This enhances Nissan’s global security and increases user satisfaction.
